Maxi length skirts, while modest, pack a lot of punch in the style department. When shopping for a vintage version, either try a knit or a funky pattern or texture. Longer knit skirts inherently have some element of body-con, helping to keep your look feeling modern. Or, in the pattern/texture department, choosing something like denim, leather, animal or mixed prints keeps your look playful, and easy to style back to a solid top/jacket.

STYLING TIPS: a fail-safe method is to choose a high-waisted maxi, and then make sure your waist is visible [either by tucking your top in, or pairing with a cropped sweater/sweatshirt]. Another option is an oversized sweater that pinches in at the bottom, or as spring approaches an oversized button down unbuttoned from the waist down.

TRICK OF THE TRADE: You have a long skirt but are not sure what to wear it with? The easiest way to dictate which direction to take your look is starting with your footwear. Sticking to sneaks? Choose a sporty sweater or crisp button down. Adding a funky bootie? Take some liberties mixing prints on top, or choosing a standout collar. Feeling your flats? Gravitate towards more feminine, polished layers and softer prints. Loving your loafers? Try a preppy cardi on top.
