TUNIC TUNE UP

Trends are fun to track, but even we know it can be so infuriating when all of the sudden everything you own starts feeling passé. A recent example of this is the skinny pant [including jeans] which at one point were ALL the rage, and now are suddenly, frustratingly, somehow past their prime.

Do you give them all away? This is the fast-fashion trap we all fall into. If you did, you would need a bunch of new pants, and most likely on a budget [because you’re looking for a few]. Instead, let’s think of ways we can wear our skinnies in a new way!

Tunics are trending now, but there are plenty of existing versions from the 90’s, 70’s and beyond to thrift. Our selections are below, but if you’re searching yourself we recommend a light-weight fabric like linen or silk so you get that slouchy, slightly body-clinging feel. Don’t be afraid of a bold print, especially if you go with a sheer fabric, which you can layer over a tank or T. While second-hand shopping, or shopping your own closet, keep in mind a mini dress without much structure can also work.

By the nature of the silhouette, you’re going to look low-key and relaxed. So, if you had a statement piece of chunky jewelry or fun bag that sometimes feels like a little MUCH now is your chance.

This layering technique reinvents your skinny pants - they’re not the star of the show anyway! Way down the line in the fall this works with long sweaters and ponchos which we’re seeing as an incoming trend regardless! It’s all coming back together ;)
